The Department of Bioengineering and Aerospace Engineering at the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) launched a massive online course (MOOC) and open for free; in edX platform about space exploration, «The Conquest of Space: Space Exploration and Rocket Science«.
As the title suggests, this is an introductory course on the history of astronautics in which there is space for basic aspects of aerospace engineering. This course is a first step for those who want to learn more about the history of space and the impact of space exploration in our daily lives. Both aspects are presented in an interleaved manner.
For example, development of missiles is presented during the Second World War, along with the basic principles of operation of the rocket engines.
This MOOC arose in response to the needs of undergraduate students, but is also intended for any fan of space. It is taught in English and begins on February 9 and registration (free) is now open.
EDX platform founded by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, where the UC3M is a partner, is an international leader in digital education, a large range of courses are followed by millions of people Worldwide.
The course passed the UC3M offered its first MOOC’s on this platform and its courses were followed by students coming mostly from USA, UK, Canada, India and Brazil for courses in English; and Spain, Mexico, Peru and Colombia, in Spanish courses.
